Really enjoyed this story. My dad grew up on the 5800 block of Catherine in the 1920's and 30's. From his stories, which almost always contained mention of ice cream and sitting on the porch visiting with the neighbors, it sounded like an idyllic neighborhood. We clearly lost something in our move to the hinterlands. I looked in your photos to see if I could recognize my dad or aunt in them. Dad's gone, but I may show the photos to his sister to see if she remembers.
