Imagine two entrepreneurs starting out on similar paths. One has a story to tell about a personal experience that brought her to the idea while the other is just looking to make money. Which do you expect will get the social currency to succeed? The Giving Keys has an inspiring story to tell about paying it forward.

Caitlin Crosby is an aspiring actress and musician in LA. She had a chance encounter with a homeless couple and it made her confront her feelings head-on. What could she do to help these folks besides just giving them a short-term handout?

From that moment, The Giving Keys were created to unlock the future for those in need.

Unlocking the Future

Caitlin had the idea that if she could employ the homeless creating something of beauty, value, and inspiration, she could change lives. Maybe she would change a few lives or perhaps a dozen, but the scale wasn’t her concern. She wanted to make a difference with meaningful work.

She imagined jewelry made from keys that had inspiring words engraved on them like HOPE, LOVE, INSPIRE, BRAVE, LET GO, BELIEVE and so on.

She thought that necklaces, bracelets, and earrings could be created using existing keys as the starting point. She would only employ the homeless as help give them the chance to earn a paycheck and be part of a community bigger than themselves.

And like Carroll’s Kitchen, this is a business designed to help a community in need. Success will come through the power of their story being told and shared as they live their core values:  Dream, Create & Inspire.
